Man who committed a series of offences sentenced and fined

MAGISTRATE Delon Bess on Friday, September 27, 2019, sentenced a 28-year-old labourer, who committed a series of offences, to three years’ imprisonment and fined him $40,000.
Seon Lampkin of ‘D’ Field, Sophia, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was found guilty at the conclusion of the trial.

The first charge stated that, on April 16, 2019, at Main Street, Georgetown, Lampkin robbed Janay DaSantos of a $5,000 handbag, along with $8,000 in cash.
The second charge alleged that Lampkin attempted to rob Uris Alleyne during the same incident.

It is alleged that, on the same day, at High Street, Georgetown, Lampkin, while being in police custody, unlawfully assaulted police officers Wilson and Keron.

It is also alleged that, while being escorted to the Diamond/Grove Police Station lockups in a police vehicle, Lampkin attempted to escape on High Street, Georgetown.

Magistrate Bess ruled and sentenced Lampkin to three years on the robbery charge, 18 months on the attempt to commit a felony charge, six months on the attempt at escaping police custody charge and ordered that the sentences run concurrently.

Magistrate also fined Lampkin $20,000 on each of the assault charges and told him that, if he fails to pay the fines, he will serve three months’ imprisonment on the assault charges.
