MORUCA and Paiwomak knocked out defending male champions, Guyana Rush Saints, and 2018 female champions, Pariuma in the semi-finals of the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Heritage Games football competition, respectively, yesterday at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

Moruca won via a 2-1 scoreline, while Paiwomak triumphed via penalties after full-time had left the game at 1-1.
Last night, Region One (Moruca) and Region Seven (Kako) were set to battle in the male championship clash, while the Paiwomak ladies were expected to play against Kamarang in the female final.

Kako had emerged victorious in their semi-finals after penalty kicks against Sipurata on Saturday night at the same venue.

In the second male semi-finals yesterday, Alanzo Abraham had given Moruca the lead in the opening half after he fired in a shot from the top of the 18-yard box.
Seasoned footballer, Franklyn Parks, managed to head a shot through the uprights to equal the score by the half-time whistle, but in the second period, Dwayne Rebeiro produced a header of his own to seal the game.
