A MAN accused of fatally stabbing his brother on Monday at their Lot 471 Charlotte Street, Enterprise, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home, is expected to be charged this week with murder.

Dead is Satnarine Jattan, 47, called “Dalip”. He was a painter for the past 20 years.

Based on statements received by police, his brother Javin Jattan, 45, who is a mason, is expected to be charged with murder.

Enquiries disclosed that Satnarine and Javin are brothers who lived with their 69 year-old mother, Dassie Samaroo. According to Dasie Samaroo, at about 10:00hrs on Monday, her two sons began drinking vodka under their wooden house.

At approximately 15:30hrs, she heard them arguing over who bought the rum and whose turn it was to purchase.

“I shouted on them, telling them to stop that, and about five minutes after I checked on them, I saw Satnarine at the bathroom area in the yard lying and bleeding from his abdomen and he was not answering when I talked to him,” she said.

The woman said she panicked but threw some water on her son to revive him but there was no response. Her other son then left the yard without saying anything. Shortly after an alarm was raised and police were contacted.

Upon arrival of the police, Satnarine’s body was covered in a grey jersey and a multi-coloured short pants. The body was escorted to the CC Nicholson Hospital at Nabaclis, ECD where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. The body is currently at the Jerrick’s Funeral Parlour awaiting autopsy.
