CUTLASS-WIELDING bandits robbed a Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) resident on Monday night while she was walking on the public road, heading home, a few minutes to the midnight hour.

Reports indicate that the 42-year-old woman was confronted by two bandits, one of whom stopped directly in front of her brandishing a cutlass and demanding that she hands over her cell phone and handbag.

The woman refused to hand over her valuables and a tug-of war started with the bandits. However, during the struggle, she was overpowered and the bandits took away her handbag and fled the scene on foot.

Her handbag reported contained two expensive cell phones and a small amount of cash. She subsequently raised an alarm and residents responded but the bandits had already made good their escape.
