A 16-year old Venezuelan teen was fatally wounded during a fight at Lethem in the Rupununi on Sunday morning.

Dead is Alberto Imina, who lived in the border town with his sister.

Reports are that around 04:00hrs on Sunday, the young man and two other men were involved in an argument which escalated into a fight close to the Tabatinga Creek. Two of the teen’s friends related that the assailant grabbed a cutlass and ran after the teenager who fell down near the creek. The assailant and another man then allegedly inflicted a severe beating on the teen whose body was later thrown into the creek.

One of the eyewitnesses ran from the scene and encountered a mob near a drug yard adjoining Marlon’s nightclub. He was also beaten.Police are on the hunt for the suspects.

Meanwhile, at Waramadong in Region Seven, another man was stabbed to death during a fight involving three men on Sunday night.

While information is sketchy, the Guyana Chronicle was told that one of the injured men is in a critical condition at the Kamarang hospital where they were taken for treatment. The deceased died on the spot at Waramadong.
