Farmhand drowns in Abary River

A 37-year-old farmhand in the Abary backlands died by drowning while reportedly attempting to swim across the Abary River, around noon Wednesday.

He received news of his disappearance and the circumstances around noon Wednesday. The deceased was a father of two girls, Sarah aged 13 and Priya aged 15. The body is at the Anthony Funeral Parlour at Fort Wellington WCB pending a post mortem examination. Police were up to late Thursday afternoon investigating the circumstance surrounding the farmhand’s death.
