AN early morning fire completely destroyed a one-flat concrete house at Plantation Mount Sinai commonly referred to as Angoy’s Avenue.

No one was at home at the time of the fire and the door remained padlocked even after the blaze was extinguished just after 02:00hrs on Thursday morning.

Rural Constable, Clobert Benjamin, revealed that the building was owned by Esther Moriah but was occupied by her daughter, Angela and her three children.

The occupant, her partner and children have not been seen for over four weeks.

However, Benjamin was awakened after hearing cracking sounds some distance away.

When he looked outside, he saw the fire and even though the fire tender responded quickly, it did not have sufficient water to spring into action at full blast. The house does not have electricity. Residents suspect that the fire was an act of arson, after a known person was seen in the yard earlier in the day.

An investigation has been launched into the fire.
