CONVICTED child rapist Leonard Albert will on Thursday know his fate as Justice Simone Morris- Ramlall at the Demerara High Court is expected to pass sentence.
In July, Albert was found guilty by a 12-member jury for engaging in sexual penetration of a six-year-old boy on June 9, 2012, in the county of Essequibo.
Social worker Simon Gaskin had read the victim’s impact statement to the court, detailing of how the incident has left him scared.
“I feel betrayed and sad,” the victim said in his statement as he explained that he is angry with himself for allowing Albert to rape him.
Albert was represented by attorney Maxwell McKay, who requested a probation report to be done on his client, after which the he will be sentenced. The state was represented by prosecutor Tuanna Hardy.
