TWENTY-five children from various villages in Region Two were recently beneficiaries of back-to-school supplies, compliments of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha (GHDS), Essequibo Nawjawan.

The youths from the Sabha’s youth arm in Region Two, on Sunday, distributed back-packs and school supplies to children at the Bounty Hall Mandir.

According to secretary of the Essequibo Youth arm, Mahindra Sharma, the good gesture is an annual one and it seeks to assist parents to send their children to school. This year, each back-pack had a lunch bowl, encouraging parents and children to take their meals to school.

Sharma said the Nawjawan is happy to extend its drive to Bounty Hall residents. Last year, the drive was conducted at Adventure Sands Mandir and the previous year at Mashabo and Bethany.  A food hamper was also given to a less fortunate family and the children of that family was given assistance to go back to school.

Children who received the bags and other supplies extended gratitude to the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha.
