– for allegedly stabbing his ‘ex’ and her new ‘bae’

THE man who was arrested for the stabbing last Wednesday of his ‘ex’ and her new ‘bae’ in a fit of passion at Hururu Mission, on the Upper Berbice River was on Thursday remanded to prison after appearing at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.

Gilbert Thomas appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune and plead not guilty to two counts of felonious wounding.

According to the facts as presented in court, last Wednesday, August 14, 2019, Dally Gobin,48, with whom Thomas had previously shared a relationship, and one Leaymond Smith, 40, were drinking at her residence when the accused allegedly approached her in a fit of rage and started an argument.

And as the argument grew heated, Thomas is said to have suddenly whipped out a knife he was carrying and dealt both Gobin and Smith several stabs about their bodies. Gobin was reportedly stabbed once under her left breast, while Smith was stabbed on either side of his chest.

The pair was reportedly rushed to the Kwakwani Hospital, where they were stabilised before being rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), where they were admitted.
According to the police, after Thomas would have committed the act, he made good his escape, but was recaptured by on Monday by ranks at Hururu Mission. He is scheduled to return to court on September 6.
