THE Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be extending its services soon to the Pomeroon-Supenaam Region. This was confirmed by Senior Environmental Protection Officer, Candacie Thompson, during a meet-the-public outreach held in Region Two on Wednesday and Thursday.

Thompson said at a recent meeting that residents had requested that an office be set up within the region to deal with complaints and applications.
She said at the moment there is no office; however, Mayor, Rajendra Prabulall, who was at the meeting, gave permission for the agency to use an office from the Anna Regina Town Council building to set up the office.
Thompson said staff members will be at the office to listen to residents’ concerns. The agency has been getting full co-operation from several organisations within the region, including the Regional Democratic Council and the Essequibo Chambers of Commerce.
On Tuesday and Wednesday 21 and 22, the agency hosted at meet the public outreach at the Anna Regina Car Park. Residents got the opportunity to interact with EPA staff and make on-the-spot applications. Those who were affected by noise pollution also went a made reports to the staff.
