POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was discovered in a trench at Adventure Village, Corentyne Berbice on Monday afternoon.
The man has been identified as Aubrey Alexander 71, a security guard who has been working with the Sukhram’s Gas Station for close to two years.

Speaking with the media, owner of the business facility, Nahar Sukhram related that Alexander was seen on Sunday last when he reported for work. However, when they arrived on Monday they did see him. The woman recalled at approximately 15:00hrs, while workers were checking the fuel tanks at the back they noticed the lifeless body of a male floating head down in the trench located at the side of the business.

The workers quickly notified the owner who contacted the police. After the police arrived at the scene and began their investigation, the body was then positively identified as that of Alexander by workers. Police sources indicated thus far, no marks of violence were seen on the deceased. The body is currently awaiting a post mortem examination.
