Two months for stealing from brother

SENIOR Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday imposed a two-month jail sentence on Damion James, who pleaded guilty to simple larceny.

James, 44, admitted that on June 5, 2019, at West La Penitence, he stole a $6,000 radio

set and a tape set valued at $25,000, property of his brother Paul James.
Initially, Magistrate Daly had fined James $20,000 or alternatively, two months in prison; the man told the court however that he would be happy to serve the prison term.

“Thanks, I’ll take the two months,” James told the magistrate before leaving the courtroom.
