Man found floating in Canje River

PARBHUDIYAL Mohan, 52, who was reportedly missing since Monday, after he left his Betsy Ground, East Canje Village home to bathe and have daily devotions at the bank of the Canje River, was found floating in the river on Wednesday.

His mother, Bisoondial (one name), had made a missing person’s report at the Reliance Police Station after her son failed to return to his modest home aback his mother’s house at Lot 41 Frank Street, Betsey Ground, East Canje.

Following the report, the unemployed man’s mother, along with other relatives, formed a search party, and at around 07:00hrs, found his body floating in the Canje River.

Berbice Divisional Commander, Paul Langevine, confirmed that no signs of violence were observed on Mohan’s body. The unresponsive Mohan was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital, where his death was confirmed by a medical practitioner.

On Thursday, a post-mortem examination conducted on his remains confirmed he died due to drowning.
