THE lifeless body of nine-month-old Trevon Alberto Albert, of Lot 14 D Edwards Village, West Coast Berbice, was discovered in a tub just outside the family bathroom on Monday afternoon.
The discovery was made just after 16:00 hours by a relative. According to the baby’s mother, Christina Albert, moments before the incident, she, along with her foster mother, Surijdai Trim, known as Navita, were playing with the child who was being prepared for a bath.
Navita Trim left the child and mother and went to the upper flat of the house. At the time Christina Albert was lying in a chair and the child was playing on the floor. When Navita returned to the lower flat, twenty minutes later, she observed Christina was sleeping in the chair, while the toddler was not seen. Checks were made around the yard as the door was open and in doing so she found the child’s lifeless body in a tub of water in the vicinity of the outdoor bathroom.
An alarm was raised and the police were alerted. The body was taken to Fort Wellington Hospital where his death was confirmed. A post mortem examination is scheduled for later this week. Investigations are continuing.
