… Hand-in-Hand U-19 3-Day Inter-County

TORRENTIAL rainfall on Thursday night led to not a ball being bowled yesterday on the third day of the Essequibo vs Select U-17 Hand-in-Hand U-19 3-Day Inter-County third round encounter at the Everest ground. As a result the match was abandoned.

Earlier in the week, the opening day was heavily affected by rain. The Select U-17 had won the toss and sent in Essequibo to bat. Opener Kevin Christian fell early, dismissed by Anand Rajkumar for just four runs. When rain interrupted, Orlando Jailall was unbeaten on 13 as was Ameer Singh, who had six runs to his name. Essequibo were on 30-1.

On Thursday, (day two), after a late start the Select U-17 turned in an impressive all-round bowling effort to skittle out Essequibo for 145. At stumps the U-17 were on 77-3 trailing by 68 runs.
With the game ending as a no-result, it means that the Select U-17 will remain on 10.4 points while Essequibo remain at the cellar position on just 0.3 points.
