THE Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) will organise the Arokium Memorial Cycling Road Race tomorrow in Berbice. It is set to attract the top cyclists from across Guyana.
The 50-miler is being held in memory of the late Phillip Arokium, who was the proprietor of the Arokium Funeral Home in New Amsterdam.
The race will start at 10:00hrs with a lap of New Amsterdam beginning at the Arokium Funeral Parlour, turning left on to Republic Road then into Tacama Turn and into Stanleytown.
The race officially begins when the cyclists leave Alexander Street from where they will head to the Nand Persaud Rice Milling Complex at No. 36 Village, Corentyne, before heading back for the finish at Main and Alexander Streets, New Amsterdam.
Prizes will be awarded to the first eight finishers, first three veterans, top three juveniles and top three females.
The first three FACC riders to cross the finish line will also be given prizes.
There will also be 10 ‘primes’ up for grabs.
The prizes will be presented to the winners by the Managing Director and relatives of the late Arokium immediately after the race.
