CHIEF-OF-STAFF, Brigadier Patrick West, has expressed satisfaction with the renovation works which have been completed at the Guyana People’s Militia Drill Hall in Linden.
West made the observation during a recent visit to the site. During his visit, Brigadier West also visited two sites at which preliminary construction has taken place ahead of the establishment of two projects to be completed under the 2019 New Horizon (NH) Exercise here in Guyana.
Foundation work has been completed at Richmond Hill, where a Centre for Battered Women is to be built, while, at Blueberry Hill, similar works have been completed for the construction of a Community Centre. Guyana Defence Force engineers are complimenting the work of the NH partners.

The Chief-of-Staff and his team also visited Base Camp Seweyo to inspect buildings which have been constructed by the NH’s Red Horse Team.
Those buildings have been outfitted with water supply, air conditioning and water-purification systems, and will house the body of US NH troops which are expected to arrive in Guyana by next week. Accompanying the Chief-of-Staff during the visits were, Commandant of the Guyana People’s Militia, Colonel Paul Arthur; Quartermaster General, Colonel Godfrey Bess; Commander of the Engineer Corps, Colonel Gary Beaton;
Commandant Guyana National Cadet Corps, Lieutenant Colonel Eon Murray; Commander Four, Engineer Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Selwyn Austin, and Commanding Officer Two, Infantry Reserve, Major Dale De Mendonca.
