Army chief satisfied with works of U.S. army at Linden

CHIEF of STAFF of the Guyana Defence Force, Brigadier Patrick West, has expressed satisfaction with the renovation works which have been completed at the Guyana People’s Militia Drill Hall in Linden.

The works were done by U.S. Army personnel, who are here for the New Horizons 2019 exercise with the Guyana Defence Force. Brigadier West visited the mining town on April 30.

During his visit, the army chief also visited two other sites at which preliminary construction has taken place ahead of the establishment of two projects to be completed under the 2019 New Horizons (NH) exercise here in Guyana.

Foundation work has been completed at Richmond Hill, where a Centre for Battered Women is to be built; while at Blueberry Hill, Wismar, similar works have been completed, including the construction of a community centre. Engineers attached to the Guyana Defence Force praised the works of their NH partners.

The Chief of Staff and his team also visited Base Camp Seweyo to inspect buildings which have been constructed by the NH Red Horse Team. Those buildings have been outfitted with water supply, air conditioning and water-purification systems, and will house the body of US NH troops, who are expected to arrive in Guyana by next week.
