GUYANA’s four-man boxing team suffered mixed fortunes on Friday evening in Trinidad and Tobago at West Indian cricket legend Brian Lara’s birth anniversary tournament. The tournament was held at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

Two of the Guyanese boxers won, while the other two suffered defeats. Lightweight Jamal Eastman was unfortunate in losing by a point to Trinidadian Anthony Joseph.

Meanwhile, Kelvin Moore convincingly beat Trinidadian Nyrul Hosein; 20-year-old Shemar Beaton also triumphed over T&T’s Blessing Waldropt.

Guyana’s Christopher Moore was controversially defeated, having suffered a below-the-belt hit from Tyron Thomas.
