Sudesh, 38, (only name given) of Meten-Meer-Zorg Reserve, West Coast Demerara (WCD) met his demise on Sunday after the tractor he was operating toppled and pinned him in the backlands at DeKinderen.

Reports are that the driver went into the backdam to do ploughing of lands owned by the Guyana Sugar Corporation, some 20 miles from the public road around 07:00hrs on Sunday.

On his way out while proceeding north on the eastern side of the road, he lost control of the tractor which turned turtle in the eastern trench, causing the driver to be pinned down.

Public-spirit citizens on seeing what happened contacted the police. Sudesh was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead by doctors. His body is at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting post-mortem.
