MoPI is not responsible for the slippage on the Parika Road

Dear Editor,
THE Ministry of Public Infrastructure takes this opportunity to respond to an article published in the Friday, April 12, 2019 edition of the Guyana Times under the headline, “Parika NDC fearful of road danger created by private company”.

The Ministry would like to inform the residents of Parika that the road mentioned in the article does not fall under the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, but rather under the Ministry of Agriculture. Additionally, the drainage works presently being carried out is under the Regional Democratic Council (RDC). The Ministry of Public Infrastructure empathises with the residents as to the importance of this slippage to be fixed, and therefore urges the RDC to consult with the Ministry of Agriculture for a speedy resolution.

Regards,
Ms. Krest Cummings
Public Relations Officer
Ministry of Public Infrastructure
