POLICE in ‘F’ Division (interior locations) arrested two persons after they seized 21 pounds of cocaine and 101 pounds of compressed cannabis during an intelligence-led operation at a location in Tabatinga, Lethem on Wednesday.
According to a release, when police arrived on the scene, a man was seen running from a partially-constructed house and a search therein unearthed 101 pounds of compressed cannabis and 21 pounds of cocaine.
Police said that the drugs were concealed in a total of 61 taped parcels. Two persons were subsequently arrested and are assisting with the investigation.
Reports indicate that the owner of the property and another person were arrested during the sting operation.
The second person attempted to bribe the lawmen with a sum of cash in order to have the drugs returned to him.
The police noted that the team that found the illicit substances was led by a superintendent.
