ETHAL Lucille Moseley, well-known in Bartica as ‘Aunty Lu’, died early this morning when her house went up in flames at Bartica.

Details have not yet emerged as to what has caused the fire, but Mrs. Moseley, who turned 100 years old last January, lived alone.

“I don’t know what happened, if she hit down a lamp or what happened. I was home about 1 am when I got a call that her home was on fire. The first question I asked was where she was and they told me she was in there,” Bartica Mayor Gifford Marshall told Guyana Chronicle.

“It was an old wooden house that Mrs. Moseley lived in and in a very short  time it was fully consumed by fire.
It’s really sad. I know things happen, but she didn’t deserve to go this way,” an emotional Marshall said.

The Guyana Chronicle will provide more details later.
