A motorcyclist succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) from injuries he sustained after being struck down by a taxi at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara (WCD) on Tuesday.
Dead is Ramairo Wilson, 23, of Crane Housing Scheme, WCD.
Police confirmed that the driver was taken into custody and a breathalyser test administered on him revealed he had alcohol in his system.
Reports indicate that Wilson and his friend were riding on motorcycle CJ 6784 at Vreed-en-Hoop Tuesday evening when they collided with hire car HB 3989.

The taxi driver was identified as a resident of Pouderoyen, WCD.
The motorcycle slammed into the right front fender of the motorcar, resulting in Wilson and his pillion rider being flung to the northern side of the road.
The friends sustained head injuries as well as multiple bruises about their bodies.
Wilson was picked up in an unconscious state while the pillion rider was semi-conscious.
They were both rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) where Wilson was examined and referred to the GPHC in a critical condition.
Wilson’s body is awaiting an autopsy while the friend remains hospitalised at the WDRH.
