Vagrant dies in laundry tub

NATASHA Conway, 30, known as “Tasha”, a vagrant of New Amsterdam, Berbice, was found motionless, with her head submerged in a laundry tub at Lot 17 Philadelphia Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice on Saturday.

The discovery was made by Jameili Daniels, 11, the adopted sister of the deceased, who, on waking up just after 05:00hrs on Saturday, observed that “Tasha” was not in bed.
Jameili went outside and, in the yard, she saw the mother of one in the washing area with her head submerged in the basin.
Following the discovery, the child ran inside and informed her mother, Donna James, of what she observed.

According to James, her adoptive daughter is epileptic and was last seen alive on Friday evening at 22:00hrs while she lying on a sponge on the floor.
James said despite calls to Conway, the woman remained unresponsive.
The police were alerted and the body was escorted to the New Amsterdam Hospital where it was confirmed dead.

Meanwhile, an aunt, Jacqueline Conway, was quick to recall the unsolved death of the deceased mother, Stay Conway, another popular vagrant whose fractured and riddled body was found along Lewis Manor Public Road, Corentyne on April 16, 2012. A post-mortem examination revealed that death was due to shock and haemorrhage as well as a fractured pelvis.

“Our family seemed to be plagued by the sudden demise. My sister died tragically, then her son, now her daughter…. But it is good that God made peace with her soul… too many things were happening which were not appropriate,” Jacqueline recounted.
She also noted that Natasha does not have an identification card. A post-mortem examination on the body of Natasha Conway has been scheduled for next week.
Police are investigating her death.
