BUSINESSMAN Robin Busjit was relieved after finding his Toyota Carina motor car less than 24 hours after it was stolen as he was unlocking the gate at his Lot 173 Bermine Housing Scheme, New Amsterdam, Berbice residence on Saturday.

The vehicle, bearing registration number PGG 8582 and valued $G3.7M, was driven away by two bandits who snuck up on him in his yard. The robbers also relieved him of local and foreign currencies totalling $400,000, along with a cellular phone.

Earlier, Busjit, a stallholder at the New Amsterdam Market, had closed his business on Saturday afternoon and headed home in his car with wife Jenny.

However, on arrival home, Jennifer Busjit exited the car to open the padlock which secured the gate. As she was doing so, a bandit came from behind and grabbed her handbag, while the other snatched the car keys which were in her husband’s hand. Robin Busjit had exited the car to protect his wife, who was under attack.

At that moment, the men quickly entered the couple’s car and sped away.
On Sunday, a search was launched for the car and it was eventually found abandoned aback Savannah Park, commonly referred to as Tannery.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
