Nailah Blackman to headline Women’s Empowerment Concert

WITH the 21-year-old Trinidadian artiste, Nailah Blackman headlining, Guyana will be treated to a grand concert and expo this Sunday at the Everest Cricket Club, as the Ministry of Social Protection commemorates International Women’s Day.

The Ministry will be collaborating with the Canadian High Commission and the Equality Matter Organisation to host the event under the theme, ‘Balance for Better’.

According to the Ministry of Social Protection, the event is expected to create an empowerment zone and concert to educate, uplift and celebrate women in Guyana.

Though organised for women, the event is tailored to cater for the entire family, with an afternoon filled with lots of fun activities. African drumming, Indian dancing, pan music, Zumba, yoga, painting, and bouncy castle for the children are but a few of the day-time activities.

Patrons will later be treated to a night of music, with Blackman as the main attraction. Guyana’s Aretha Fraser, Poonam Singh and Calvin Burnett will also be gracing the stage to make their contribution to the empowering of women.

This event is open to everyone, and is absolutely free.
