A construction worker attached to N&P Investment was, on Monday, February 25, 2019, granted $15,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, on a drug trafficking charge.
Selwyn Dean of No 4, West Coast Berbice, made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Particulars of the charge alleged that, on February 22, 2019, at the Bartica Police Station, Dean had 17 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Dean’s attorney, Mark Conway, made an application for bail on the grounds that his client was the sole breadwinner for his family of six, and his wife was four months pregnant.
Police Prosecutor, Gordon Mansfield made no objection to bail.
The chief magistrate released Dean on $15,000 bail and transferred the matter to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for March 14, 2019.
