ACTION in the fourth night of the Magnum Mash Futsal championship on Tuesday night saw powerhouse ‘Gold is Money’ suffer a shock defeat at the hands of Capital Strikers at the National Gymnasium.
The game was goalless for the first half as both sides failed to find the back of the net. However, late in the second half Tevin Crawford produced the killing touch with a well-struck goal in the 17th minute to put Strikers one goal up. That strike proved to be enough as the Strikers ran out 1-0 victors.
Meanwhile, the exciting Ol’ Skool Ballers played to a 2-2 deadlock with Island All-Stars in a highly entertaining game. The All-Stars took the early lead with Devin Hyman scoring in the fifth minute before Shalomo Hunte equalised almost immediately in the sixth minute before striking yet again in the eighth to hand his team a 2-1 lead.
However, Hyman found the back of the net in the 14th minute but there would be no more goals as the game played out to a draw.
Broad Street and Showstoppers continued this trend with a 1-1 draw with Joel McGarrell scoring for Broad Street while Amaniki Buntin levelled things for Showstoppers.
Continuing the tone of the evening, Buxton Diamond and Hustlers played out to a 2-2 draw, with Dennis Edwards scoring a brace for Hustlers while Stephon Dolphin and Shemar Scott scored a goal each for Buxton Diamond.
Back Circle trounced Good Life with a resounding 3-0 win. For the victors Dellon Kelly netted in the third minute while Jermaine Beckles and Stephon McLean scored in the fifth and 17th minutes respectively.
Future Stars hit three past Alexander Village who could manage only a solitary goal in response. Jamal Cozier in the eighth minute, Kevin Cummings in the 16th minute and Ryan Dowding in the 20th minute were the goalscorers for Future Stars while Leon Yaw netted Alexander Village’s only goal in the 13th minute.
Defending champions Bent Street edged Avocado Ballers 2-1, with Pernell Schultz bagging a brace of goals in the fourth and 19th minutes respectively, Dexter Marshall was the lone goalscorer for Avocado, netting his goal in the 9th minute.
Meanwhile in other results, Tiger Bay drew 0-0 with Sophia, Albouystown drew with Leopold Street with a similar scoreline and Gaza Squad gained a walkover from Mocha.
Action resumes tomorrow with the final group stage matches scheduled for that day at the National Gymnasium.
