TECHNOLOGY has changed the entire recruitment and job search process, especially for recruiters and hiring managers and Guyana will follow suit with the introduction of an online portal known as Nexus GDN Jobs.

The website aims to make it easier than ever to find candidates to suit niche skills or even sway candidates who might not be actively job searching.

Job seekers can even reach out directly to employers, create online profiles to attract recruiters and apply for jobs with the click of a button.

The virtual job market has been created by managing director and results-based management specialist of Nexus GDN Jobs, Sharissa Barrow.

In an exclusive interview with the Guyana Chronicle, she explained that the website utilises the best in-class technology to increase the effectiveness and reduce the cost and time of recruitment.

The managing director explained that Nexus GDN Jobs was created to offer a modern platform for visibility to employers and job seekers alike.

“Job seekers can create a profile, be found by employers, and apply for jobs in Guyana, the US, UK, Canada and the Caribbean. Employers can market themselves as good employers, find candidates, and engage with job seekers in a clear, easy and affordable process. Creating a profile for job seekers and employers is free,” she explained.

Adding that persons looking for jobs are encouraged to create a profile and sign up for free job alerts, Barrow said this ensures candidates are informed when new jobs matching the candidates’ skills and experience become available.

FREE RESUME REVIEW SERVICE
“Job seekers can also take advantage of a free resume review service by TopCV, which is the leading resume-writing service in the world. The Nexus GDN Jobs platform is easy to use, allowing job seekers to apply to jobs from their phones with the click of a single button, once they have signed in and created their profile,” she noted.

This service, Barrow said, is essential due to the rapid opening of Guyana’s markets and the inward migration of labour from the Caribbean and around the world.

In this context, she said Nexus GDN Jobs is a resource that helps youth and all Guyanese can be competitive in a changing market.

Further, she explained that the market changes are also contributing to an increasing imperative for employers to market themselves to job seekers. This is due to increased competition for skills, which will only increase as the budding oil and gas sector grows.

Employers can post a job, using best practice templates, for a nominal fee or directly search the Nexus GDN Jobs candidate database.

More importantly, she said Nexus GDN Jobs saves employers, both private and public sector, time and money by screening the applications received.

“Instead of manually searching 100 applications and finding only 10 that meet the mandatory skills and qualification criteria, the Nexus GDN Jobs platform does the screening, thereby ensuring that employers do not miss worthy candidates and spend more time interacting with candidates that meet the required skill and experience profile,” she explained.

The managing director confirmed that Nexus GDN Jobs is the recruitment solution of Nexus GDN, and is a 100 per cent Guyanese-owned management consulting business.

“It is the one-stop shop for technical and professional services in Guyana and across the Caribbean, providing services that span 12 sectors and include human resource management services generally and recruitment, executive search and talent management network services, specifically,” she underscored.

Nexus GDN is also the official reseller of talent networks, hosted by Career Builder.

Employers can contact Nexus GDN Jobs at jobs@nexusgdn.com for a free demonstration of the platform or to find out more about their executive search and talent management services.
