Hemp advocate urges removal of barriers for legalisation

Dear Editor
GUYANA is a blessed country and can become an agricultural powerhouse, but to achieve it, the legislative barriers for cultivation and processing of industrial hemp, which is not marijuana, must be removed now, for the richness of Guyana is astounding.

Mr. Editor, 80 per cent of Guyana’s vast forest is preserved and is providing oxygen, a service to the world. There is good soil in all 10 regions of the country, good climatic conditions and an abundance of fertile land and water. Industrial hemp is an agricultural commodity and when legalized, will provide large-scale employment mainly for our youth at all income levels, create new industries, build our regional and national economies and eradicate poverty.

The legalisation of Industrial Hemp will make a reality of our great leader, Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham’s programme of feeding, clothing and housing the nation, for this profitable crop will produce food, clothes, building materials and also over 25,000 different products.

Our dear President Granger, I support the ‘Green’ Initiatives, but it will not be a reality without Industrial Hemp. Please act and remove the barriers for legalisation and processing of Industrial Hemp and the APNU+AFC will have something to speak about in the elections campaign whenever.

Regards
Hemp Advocate
