GFC will clash with Police in tonight’s ‘STAG Revival Cup’ final for a chance to win $500 000 and bragging rights.

IN what will be GFC’s second final in a matter of months, the faithful fan base will be hoping that they can cross the line this time around and lift the trophy, when they face Police FC tonight in the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA) ‘STAG Revival Cup’ at their home ground.

Police are known adversaries and will go into the clash as slight favourites. However, GFC have young talent who will need to be at their best if they are to come out on top.
Both teams grabbed their final spots last Sunday. Police were the first to seal their spot as they narrowly beat GT Panthers 2-1.

In their semi-final against Fruta Conquerors, GFC produced a workmanlike performance in a thriller which had to eventually be decided via penalties.
With regulation and extra time failing to produce a winner with the deadlock at 1-1, the game went down to penalties and GFC held their nerve to beat Fruta 3-2.

The winners of the STAG Beer Revival Cup are expected to walk away with $500 000, while second- and third-place will receive $250 000, and $150 000 respectively.
The Revival Cup was launched last year by the GFA with support from the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) to encompass football clubs within the Georgetown area.
