IN WHAT could be deemed a one-sided affair, Lusignan Sports Club produced an all-round effort to thrash Lusignan East Strikers by eight wickets in the latest round of the East Coast Cricket Committee (ECCC)-sponsored SPR 40 overs cricket tournament yesterday at the Lusignan Community Centre ground.
Winning the toss and deciding to bowl first, the hosts were spot-on right from the start, as their bowlers never allowed the opposition to score freely and as a result the latter folded for just 89 in 29 overs.
Sachin Sahadeo top-scored with 22, and was the only batsman to reach double figures.
The wickets were shared among the bowlers with Vickram Doodnauth claiming 3-24, Chanderpaul Ramraj and Rajpaul Basdeo taking 2-12 and 2-8 respectively, while there was a wicket each for Kumar Bishundial and A. Mohamed.
In reply, the home team lost both openers early, but an unbroken third-wicket stand between Steve Ramdass and Shazam Ali ensured the commanding victory, as they surpassed the target at 94-2 in 15.1 overs.
Ramdass struck six fours and one six in his unbeaten 47 while Ali hit three boundaries in his 27.
The tournament continues today with seven games: Lusignan B will host Paradise Sports Club, while Strathavon B, Cane Grove New Generation Sports Club, Fairfield, Enmore Enforcers, Better Hope A and Ogle will host Better Hope Sixers, Buxton, LBI, Bee Hive, Golden Achievers and Strathavon Sports Club respectively.
