Blue Thunder win Inter-Organisation Table Tennis Championship

BLUE Thunder played undefeated to cop the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Inter-Organisation Table Tennis Championship, which was held over the weekend at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The two-day competition, which served off the 2019 season, attracted nine teams from organisations, business entities and religious bodies.
The teams were placed in three groups and the top two emerged victorious.

In Group One, the Guyana Fire Service team of Warren Hackshaw and Quincy Rice defeated the Guyana Islamic Trust (GIT) C team of C. Hector and H. Lewis 3-0 and the Chinese Embassy B team of Xilai Chen and Chunhui Li 3-1 to qualify at the top. The GIT emerged second after they got past the Chinese Embassy B side 3-1.

In Group two, it was NP Electronic (Michael Vieira, Xenophon Goliah and Bruce Murray) who got past the Guyana Islamic Trust B team of Abdool Rahim, Saad Baksh and Areeb Ali 3-0 and the Chinese Embassy A team of Jiansong Shen and Feng Wang 3-1. Second place went to the Islamic Trust B team, who battled past the Chinese Embassy A side 3-2.

Eventual champions, Blue Thunder (dealers in car radios and speakers) defeated the Guyana Islamic Trust A team of Jamal Aniswick and Levi Percival in Group three. Both teams got walkovers from Power Producer Distributor Ink, which propelled them through to the next round.

In the semi-final, the Guyana Fire Service lost to the Guyana Islamic Trust A team 2-3, while Blue Thunder defeated NP Electronic 3-2. In the championship clash, Blue Thunder made light work of the Guyana Islamic Trust 3-0. NP Electronic and the Guyana Fire Service finished jointly in third place.
