PREGNANT mothers, especially those coming from the Pomeroon River and from Region One to deliver their babies at the Suddie Public Hospital, will be provided with a much more comfortable environment in 2019.

The assurance was given by newly-appointed Regional Executive Officer (REO), Denis Jaikarran, during an inspection visit of a new Maternity Ward at the hospital last Wednesday evening. The Amerindian Hostel currently serves as an accommodation for the maternity patients.
Jaikaran also spoke to patients utilising the facility and the caretakers about the plans of the regional administration. During the visit, both caretakers and in-house residents vented their concerns about the status of the building.
Jaikarran assured the patients that the basic amenities will be provided to ensure comfort of the pregnant women. The new Maternity Waiting Home will be commissioned in this quarter. The patients were happy with the timely intervention made by the REO.
