Dear Editor
IT is not that I listen to Freedom Radio, because I am a supporter of the PPP/C, and would therefore wish to be acquainted with their issues of the day. No such thing.
Instead, I would listen to such a misnomer of a spectrum because of seeking to be abreast of current political issues on both sides of the divide and what its distortion-minded speakers have to say on behalf of the PPP/C.
Editor, it has to be an exercise of patience to listen to the arrant racism and criminal intent to both mislead and to misrepresent very pertinent issues in this nation. It is a tragedy to truth, because for that particular party, the only explanation that it usually offers is the type that serves to solidify its dangerous lies. It is their well-known perennial exercise of keeping their supporters in line; and that they succeed is because of the racial divide.
Their recent broadcast, as usual, was another example of deliberate misinformation, with the usual indecent intention to mislead. How much more dangerous can this deception of a political radio become?
To have the indecency to broadcast that there is a ploy on the part of the government to postpone national and regional elections due, as a result of supposed parliamentary events of December 21 is to be reckless, and an attempt to endanger the peace and stability of the nation.
And such irresponsible statements, which also tagged the reported extension of the medical leave of the current GECOM chairperson, have been made. This, despite so many explanations by the coalition of their position, of not ignoring the constitution, but because of very critical aspects of the House-voting process that arose, government, on the advice of the Speaker, has sought the services of the court for a permanent resolution. It is a position that the government made clear last Wednesday, during its meeting with the leader of the parliamentary opposition; which he accepted.
To say the least, it is disgusting that such a very serious issue can be treated in such a cavalier and callous manner for cheap political mileage. Where is the maturity that is demanded of such a political opposition party and its chief spokespersons?
Further, to even suggest that the GECOM chairman’s continuous illness is part of the plan is to be uncaring about a humanitarian situation. It is shameless that Bibi Shadick, a Commissioner of GECOM, can lend herself to such an all-time low. But not surprising, as she and her fellow party-appointed commissioners have sought to make Chairman, retired Justice James Patterson’s constitutional functions very difficult by allegations that are wicked and vile, and without any credible basis.
Even at such a sensitive moment of this nation’s existence, engendered by an avaricious grab for executive power by the PPP/C, Shadick cannot comprehend how irresponsible her comments are.

Earl Hamilton
