… Northern Rangers’ Reynolds awarded MVP

NORTHERN Rangers will have a brighter holiday season after the Petra Organisation yesterday handed out the championship trophies and other cash prizes for the recently-concluded Turbo KO Football tournament.

At the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue Rangers collected $800 000 along with their championship trophy.
Northern Rangers most senior player, Nigel Denny, received the cheque and championship trophy on behalf of his team during the simple but significant handing-over while the coach of the runners-up, GFC’s Dellon Cadogan collected his team’s trophy and $400 000.

Skipper of Rangers, 18-year-old Stephan Reynolds, was adjudged the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament after an outstanding campaign and a man-of-the-match performance in the final where he scored the winning goal.
Interestingly, GFC’s Ronel McClean, who was beaten on his near post by Reynolds in the final, was awarded best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Manasseh Primo, of Police FC that were disqualified in the quarterfinals, tally of five goals was the most in the tournament and it is very likely that he would have added to the tally had Police remained in the tournament.

Sean Embrack, a representative of the promoters Petra Organisation, noted that twelve teams participated in the knockout format over a period of eight playing days and he was pleased to see a new winner emerge in the second annual edition after Camptown FC had won in the inaugural Cup.

Marketing Coordinator of title sponsors Guyana Beverage Inc., through their Turbo Brand, Raymond Govinda, explained that he was very pleased with the execution of the tournament while acknowledging the tremendous support of the fans.
