THIS year’s Kayo’s Academy and Rickland Hutson Leadership Youth Challenge Fiesta was won by Hi Stars who captured the Under-13 competition and Topp XX came out on top in the Under-16 tournament, staged last Saturday at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
Hi Stars, led by Shamiah Samuels, edged Topp XX to capture the Under-13 final after they had beaten Blueberry Hill 1-0 to advance in the championship game. Topp XX, on the other hand, got the better of Rickland Hutson Leadership Academy also by a 1-0 score to reach the final.
In the Under-16 championship, Topp XX went through via a bye; but Milerock the defending champions in both competitions beat Hutson Academy 3-0.
Topp XX prevailed in the final over Milerock 4-1 on penalties after they played to a 0-0 stalemate in regulation time.
Rickland Hutson Leadership Academy’s lone female player in the tournament, Jamina Gentle, received a trophy, while their goalkeeper in the Under-16 segment, Alvin Andries, was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper.
Hutson’s Leadership Academy also carted off the Most Disciplined Award and their coach Rawle ‘Jughead’ Huntley was named Best Coach.
