A TAXI driver is in police custody after he allegedly drove over a 25-year-old labourer, killing him on One Mile Public Road Wismar, Linden in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Dead is Imtiaz Muhammad, a labourer of Tuschen West Coast of Demerara (WCD).

Reports indicate that the hire car HC 8814 was proceeding west along the southern side of One Mile Public Road when it is alleged that the driver was blinded by the bright light of an oncoming vehicle in the opposite direction.

As such, the driver drove over Muhammad who was lying on the Southern side of the road. The driver stopped for a while and then drove away.

Imtiaz Muhammad was taken the Linden Hospital by an ambulance where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
