A seaman attached to Pritipaul Singh Investment drowned on Wednesday morning during a three-week  fishing stint at sea.

Dead is 33-year-old Navishwar Karamdatt called “Sharma.” He was a seaman of Diamond, Housing, Scheme East Bank Demerara.



 

Reports indicate that a fishing vessel was out at sea when the captain reported that one of the crew members was missing; he was instructed to return to shore.

The vessel departed on December 3, 2018 returned to shore on Saturday and the crew was detained.

Surveillance footage provided an account of the incident. Two men can be seen working at the stern of the vessel in the rough waters and one of the men was pitched off of the vessel when it rode the waves.

The man went under by the time the vessel turned around to assist him. Police are investigating the incident.
