Dave Martins, Christmas fair and much more in store

Christmas is coming, whether you like it or not. And if you’ve not quite caught that Christmas bug just yet, there are still sure-fire fixes that will get you feeling more festive than Santa’s Elf on the Shelf.
On Sunday, December 16, the Promenade Gardens will sparkle with a traditional and delightful holiday event that will fill the air with anticipation and excitement for the season to come.

The award-winning and legendary musician Dave Martins and his band will take the stage at the Promenade Gardens to headline a special concert, culinary festival and Christmas fair named ‘Christmas at the Promenade’ that will commence at 16:00hrs. Organisers are urging that if you’ve never attended a concert presented by this iconic composer, singer and guitarist, you are missing out.

“You will not be able to resist tapping your toes or humming a little, as Dave gets you into the spirit with favourite tunes such as ‘Boyhood Days’, ‘Is We Own’ and ‘Not a Blade of Grass’. This special concert will also feature other renowned Guyanese Lyricists and bands,” the organisers said in a press release.
The event will also feature a traditional Christmas fair that promises to “bring home everything that [you] love about Christmas in Guyana.”

But that’s not all, patrons will get a chance to shop till they drop right at that event via the ‘Merry Market Place’ which will feature a variety of stalls selling local specialist crafts and unique gifts, as well as bargain-priced holiday products from Christmas cards, stationery, lights, decorations, ornaments, Christmas tree stands, skirts and other accessories, stockings, wreaths, garlands, gift bags, wrapping paper & supplies, Christmas candy along with holiday party supplies.

The event will also feature a Kids Zone which will be loaded with lots of kids sized fun. From ‘piles of smiles’ face painting with unique designs to bounce houses to many, many games and other activities.

Tickets are just $1,000 and give access to the special concert and entire venue. They are available at Real Value Supermarket – Church Street, Giftland Mall, China Trading Robb Street & Avenue of the Republics, Low’s Service Station – Bel Air Park and Gizmos and Gadgets – North Road.
