Shepherd grabs 4-36 as Leewards bowled out for 182
THE Leeward Islands Hurricanes were bowled out for 182 by the Guyana Jaguars on day one of their second round Professional Cricket League (PCL) Four-day game at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua yesterday.
After a delayed start, Hurricanes batted only 62.3 overs, with Romario Shepherd being the leading wicket-taker with 4-36 while Gudakesh Motie claimed 3-23. Keon Joseph, Veerasammy Permaul and Clinton Pestano picked up one wicket each.
The leading run-scorers for Hurricanes were Devon Thomas who made 58 and Montcin Hodge 50, while Keacy Carty managed only 28.
In response, Jaguars were in a spot of bother at 36 for 2 at the close of play; opener Trevon Griffith was run-out for 12 while skipper Leon Johnson found himself back in the hut caught off the bowling of Rahkeem Cornwall for just six runs.
Tagenarine Chanderpaul is unbeaten on 14 while Clinton Pestano is yet to score.
Both teams recorded first round wins and they are looking to solidify their position at the top of the table.
