A motorcyclist was killed on the Non Pareil Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Thursday after he collided with a minibus, BRR 9843, at the intersection with the main access road.
Dead is David Aulder, 26, of Lot 254 Section ‘A’ Non Pareil, ECD. The minibus driver is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
When contacted, police said a breathalyser test was conducted on the driver and he was found above the legal limit. Reports indicate that the minibus was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the Non Pareil Public Road while the motorcyclist was proceeding north along the Coldingen Access Road, reportedly at a fast rate of speed.
On approaching the intersection, the motorcyclist failed to stop, turned east and proceeded along the southern side on the Non Pareil Public Road when he collided with the front left side of the minibus. Eyewitnesses said that as a result of the collision, the motorcyclist lost control and fell onto the roadway and received injuries. He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
