“THE call I made to Sonia Noel in 2016 changed my life.” These were sentiments expressed by entrepreneur, Leisa Gibson. She went on to explain that when she entered the first Women in Business she had one product and now she has several. There are many similar testimonies from the exhibitors over the years.
The launch of the Women in Business Expo 2019 started with a prayer by Neil Mc Phoy which set an empowering tone for the rest of the exhibition. This is the first time a mini-expo was done along with a media briefing for the launch, and patrons and exhibitors were super excited about the event. The persons at the head table were myself, Dr. Colleen Bovell, entrepreneur Leisa Gibson and Shiv Dindyal, CEO of Icon Media who launched a new feature to the expo that will benefit small, start-up business and artists.
These businesses will be able to have an online shop to market to the world on this website.
We are always trying to find ways to advance the exhibitors so this website was timely.
The business at the launch were Melanin Collection by Colleen Bovell; 592 WINES; Intricate Creations by Melba La Gadoue; Eccentric Creations by Lexandra Willabus; the Mahaica Women’s Group led by Debbie Argyle; Leisa’s Salon n Beauty Supplies by Leisa Gibson; Harmony Inn and Secret Villa; SS Natural Flavours by Sandra Craig; David Creative Designs by Natasha David; Ann’s Country Style Biscuits by Simone Peters; Oboticario and Natural Brazilian Products by Reanna Hodge; Lisa’s Beauty Shoppe by Bibi Ramlall and Crafted By Chey by Shonta Noel.
Feigel Niles from Linden presented her book “What’s faith got to do with it”. Sonia Noel Designs and books were also on display and prizes were given out to some lucky patrons. Jackie Dally won a versatile Kaftan top, Latoya Barton won a complimentary spot in “Developing the Best You” and Nateica Garraway won a free course on how to write and publish your book.
The atmosphere was electrifying and people were passing through all day. Apart from direct sales, the exhibitors made local and overseas connections.
One of the main features in 2019 is the Women Across Borders-Featuring Women of the Guianas. A delegation will be coming from Suriname and French Guyana. Every year, the event adds something new and this year exhibitors and patrons will witness next level opportunities.
“One of the great benefits of participating in the expo is the personal development classes before the expo. When you grow your business grows,” said Reanna Hodge.
.When God has a plan for this to happen in your life nothing can stop it. A few months ago a young lady messaged me on FB expressing her desire to write a book and we have been in contact since. When she saw that by attending the launch and submitting your name you can win a complimentary course on how to write and publish your book, her eyes were on that prize. She messaged me in the evening to inquire if she won and I told her that her name was not amongst the three winners.
The next day I proceeded to call the winners and the one that won the prize was the same young lady. Her FB name was different from the name she submitted. Ms Garraway was ecstatic and I felt happy for her because this is a dream come through. She is looking forward to her first book. The complimentary spot for Developing The Best You went to Ms Barton and Mrs Dally won the Sonia Noel top.
Additional people were allowed to download the book for free for two days. My one-year celebration added joy to lives and that is how life should be.
