A 36-YEAR-OLD man appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Monday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for possession of marijuana.
The charge alleges that on November 22, at the Kwakwani Waterfront, the accused Ancel John, had in his possession 110 grams of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The father of three denied the charge, while his attorney, in applying for bail, told the court that a party of people armed with guns went into his client’s store, and seeing that they did not identify themselves as policemen, he ran away.
He said that it was not until a few hours later that they called him saying that that they’d found what looked like marijuana at his store.
Put like that, prosecutor Gordon Mansfield had no alternative but to approve of bail, which was granted in the sum of $50,000.
The matter was adjourned to December 21.
