THE police on Monday arrested several persons with guns and ammunition during several “stop & search” exercises in the “A” and “G” Divisions.
Around 14:30hrs on Monday, police stopped a car with three occupants on the Charity Public Road, on the Essequibo Coast, and found two 9mm pistols, three magazines and 58 live rounds.
Later that day on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, in the vicinity of the Highway Base Outpost, a minibus was searched at around 19:30hrs and a male passenger was found in possession of an unlicensed.38 revolver with a live ammunition as well as a spent shell.
Another police patrol also got lucky on the same Soesdyke-Linden Highway, when the lone occupant of a car they stopped and searched was found to be in possession of 63 grams of cannabis.
All of the suspects are being processed for court.
