DR. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, Council President of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has arrived in Guyana ahead of the three-day Air Transport meeting at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
The conference runs from November 21 to 23, 2018. On hand to receive the ICAO Council President at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), was Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Egbert Field. Col. Field said that he is happy to have the ICAO President in Guyana for the meeting, as it demonstrates the significant importance of the forum for Guyana and the region, the GCAA said in a release.
Accompanying Dr. Aliu is the Director for North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACC) Regional Office of ICAO, Mr. Melvin Cintron. The three-day conference will also include the Third African Diaspora Conference on Friday November 23, 2018 at the same venue.
Issues to be discussed at the Air Transport meeting include Harmonising Regional Air Transport Regulatory Framework, liberalisation of air cargo, maximising economic benefits of aviation in the region, air transport and tourism among others.
