Man confesses to murder of Parika woman

THE police have been able to secure a confession statement from a 37-year-old man in the murder of 22-year-old Romeza Sukdeo whose decomposing remains were found in a clump of bushes on Sunday morning by a passing security guard.

Police sources indicated to the Guyana Chronicle that the man whose name was given as Naresh Ally known as ‘Little Robbery’ allegedly confessed to the crime. He was picked up shortly after the post-mortem on Wednesday which confirmed that the young lady was indeed murdered.

He reportedly told detectives that he and the young lady had gotten into an argument. He then strangled her and left her body in a clump of bushes.
Sukdeo had been battling substance abuse for the past seven years and repeated efforts by her mother to have to her give up that lifestyle and return home were futile.

The mother had indicated that the young lady once told her that should anything happen to her while she was on the streets, there are two particular individuals whom the police should go after.

When she was found dead, those two individuals were picked up but it turned out that it was not any of the two who killed the young lady and they also apparently had nothing to do with her. The police are presently preparing the file to be sent to the director of public prosecutions for advice on the laying of possible charges against the suspect.
