KHEMRAJ Pooranmall and Devanand Persaud emerged winners of ‘A’ division and ‘B’ division when the first leg of the National Draughts Championship was held last Sunday at the National Gymnasium.

Godfrey George captured the second place trophy after finishing with 23 points, while defending champion Jairam Ramdeen ended third. Ramdeen was tasked with fending off eventual fourth-place finisher Ulric Brathwaite from Kuru Kururu in a tie-breaker.
